BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.28 percent, at 3,236.37 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.66 percent higher at 11,938.12 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.11 trillion yuan (about 166.8 billion U.S. dollars), up from 891.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares related to sodium-ion batteries posted strong performances, while those related to shipping saw weak performances.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.92 percent to close at 2,554.66 points.
