BEIJING, June 2 (Xinhua) -- U.S. consultancy Gartner has recently released its Global Supply Chain Top 25 for 2022 list, and Chinese companies Lenovo and Alibaba are on the list, reported Economic Information Daily Wednesday.
This is the eighth time that Lenovo has been on such list, ranking 9th this time, and Alibaba ranks 25th this time.
The Gartner Global Supply Chain Top 25 list has been released for 18 consecutive years. It is reported that the shortlisted companies must be Fortune Global 500 or Forbes Global 2000 manufacturers, dealers or retailers each with an annual revenue of more than 12 billion U.S. dollars showed in public financial data.
"Supply chain difficulties are speeding upthe intelligent transformation of Lenovo." Gartner believes that Lenovo is committed to achieving greater commonality and establishing a high degree of collaboration in parts and suppliers, and has made great efforts to improve customer experience and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industrial chain and supply chain, Lenovo's production bases in Wuhan of central China's Hubei Province, Shenzhen of south China's Guangdong Province and Hefei of east China's Anhui Province all activated their emergency plans as soon as possible to cooperate with the suppliers to solve problems such as supply and pandemic prevention and control, and achieved work and production resumption quickly.
In Hefei, Lenovo has achieved joint production scheduling with upstream suppliers who can acquire Lenovo's needs from related system and then produce related products on demand, improving the efficiency while reducing the inventory.
Through more and more collaborative production, Lenovo, Alibaba and other enterprises are actively passing on the ability to build resilient supply chains to upstream and downstream enterprises.
"This is very important," said Lin Xueping, an expert in supply chains, adding that a combination of enterprises with strong abilities and mastering resilient supply chains will build a country's lean manufacturing capabilities and comprehensive competitiveness.
The Gartner Global Supply Chain Top 25 for 2022 list showed that Cisco Systems, Schneider Electric, Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson and PepsiCo occupy the top five. Microsoft, Siemens and AstraZeneca were newly shortlisted this year, while 3M and Starbucks slipped out of the list. In the closely watched electronics sector, Dell Technologies and HP Inc. ranked 15th and 17th respectively this year.
