BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The 2022 China (Hunan)-Africa Fishery and Aquatic Products Promotion Conference was held both online and offline in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province on Thursday, featuring discussions on sustainable development of China-Africa cooperation in the fishery industry, reported Chinanews.com.
Guests at the conference include business representatives and diplomatic envoys to China from African countries such as Algeria, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Uganda, etc., as well as relevant government officials of Hunan Province and representatives of Hunan's enterprises and business associations in the fishery industry.
Combining Africa's advantageous ecological conditions and abundant fishery resources with Hunan's advanced aquaculture technology, the two sides should expect huge room for cooperation and broadened market for fishery and aquatic products, striving to promote upgrades in both terms of trade and industry, according to Chen Xianchun, deputy secretary general of Hunan Provincial Government.
As African guests at the conference introduced the aquatic product resources and fishery policies of different African countries, they also expressed their willingness to cooperate with Chinese enterprises in aquaculture, fish refrigeration, feed production and aquatic product processing.
The conference promotes communication among political, business and academic circles in both China and Africa and serves as a bridge of cooperation for those in the fishery industry, said Jean Louis Robinson, ambassador of Madagascar to China, noting that the platform will help increase export of aquatic products from African countries to China.
Multiple enterprises and institutions on Thursday's event signed strategic cooperation agreements and annual purchase deals. The second phased of the Hongxing Global Agriculture Wholesale Center project was also launched at the conference, striving to strengthen the efforts of bringing in high-quality international aquatic products from Africa and other regions.
