HARBIN, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Suifenhe Railway port on the China-Russia border has seen a total of 218 China-Europe freight train trips carrying 20,358 TEUs from January to April this year, an increase of 88.6 percent and 97.3 percent year-on-year respectively, with the growth rate of China-Europe freight trains operation ranking the first nationwide, reported CCTV.com citing data from the China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd.
As one of China's major land ports, since the first China-Europe freight train launched in August of 2018 in Suifenhe, the port has witnessed rapidly increasing trips of China-Europe freight trains year by year, from 22 trains in the first year to over 500 in 2021.
Moreover, the frequency of handled cargo trains of the port has increased from an average of 6 trains per month in the initial stage to an average of 46 trains per month, with cumulative number of trains exceeding 1,100 units. In March this year, a record 67 trains were handled in a single month.
So far, China-Europe freight train routes via Suifenhe port reach several European countries such as Poland, Germany, and Belgium and connect cities including Shanghai, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Xi'an at home.
