BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) – A fast railway customs clearance procedure has been implemented for China-Europe freight trains from east China's Jiangsu province, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Wednesday.
On May 17, a China-Europe freight train successfully left China via Horgos in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, heading for Uzbekistan, marking Jiangsu's first freight train implementing the new streamlined railway customs clearance procedure.
The train, carrying excavators, road rollers, milling machines and other construction machinery with a total value of 4.2 million U.S. dollars, is expected to arrive at the destination station in Uzbekistan four days later.
Under the new procedure, which is aimed at boosting efficiency and enhancing supervision, the head of a freight train can submit the electronic data of the railway manifest to the customs authority without the need for additional declaration and customs transfer procedures.
