BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- East China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port saw its container throughput in April reach 3.032 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), up 11.8 percent year on year, achieving a new breakthrough in terms of monthly container throughput, reported Chinanews.com on Monday.
Facing the severe and complicated epidemic situation at home and abroad this year, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has continued to guarantee the port's safe production, realize steady growth of transportation, and help the logistics chain to stay stable, smooth and orderly.
The port has also strengthened coordination and communication with the railway bureau to strengthen the sea-rail link and increased the sea-river joint transportation by giving full play to the regional river advantages.
Statistics show that from January to April this year, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port completed a cargo throughput of 410 million tonnes and a container throughput of 10.945 million TEUs, up 4.0 percent and 5.2 percent year on year respectively.
