BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- China's cargo transportation has maintained steady recovery as the country introduced various measures to ensure smooth and orderly transportation and logistics, according to the Ministry of Transport.
On Saturday, cargo throughput at China's major ports rose 3.5 percent from the previous day to 33.34 million tonnes, while their container throughput surged 3.1 percent to 728,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
China's rail cargo volume on Saturday inched down 0.46 percent from May 13 to 10.75 million tonnes.
The number of trucks running on expressways nationwide reached 6.74 million, down 3.61 percent from a day earlier, while the number of civil aviation cargo flights slid 1.8 percent to 784 flights.
The business volume of the country's postal and express delivery services declined 3.0 percent from the previous day to 294 million pieces on Saturday. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
