HOHHOT, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The total container throughput of border port Erenhot in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has reached 100,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) since its first trial operation of China-Europe freight train through Erenhot port in 2013, reported local newspaper Tuesday.
Starting from this year, Erenhot Customs has further optimized and integrated supervision process of China-Europe freight trains, and reduced the processing time cost of enterprises so as to create a high-quality business environment with more convenient customs clearance as well as ensure the smooth operation of China-Europe freight trains.
Currently, domestic commodity sources of Erenhot port have covered the Pearl River Delta region, the Yangtze River Delta and other regions, while the scope of its overseas sources is also expanding. The stable operation of the China-Europe freight trains in this city has established an international railway transport brand worldwide, and provided strong support for the implementation of Belt and Road Initiative.
Erenhot railway port, the only railway port between China and Mongolia, is an important channel for domestic goods to be exported to Mongolia, Russia and Europe.
