SDA Bocconi School of Management and Huawei to launch new Tech with Her training sessions

May 09, 2022

Abstract : On June 23 and 24 the second training initiative will take place, this time in presence, aimed at female professionals of all ages currently employed in an Italian SME, with particular attention to the main sectors of Made in Italy.

MILAN, May 9 (Class Editori) — SDA Bocconi School of Management and Huawei announced they are accepting applications to participate in the second cycle of training organized as part of "Tech with Her", the initiative that aims to reduce the gender gap in the world of technology, through a series of training sessions accessible for free.

With the aim of overcoming this gap, "Tech with Her" offers three training events on some of the main topics that characterize the so-called "professions of tomorrow", from Cloud Computing to Artificial Intelligence, from Digital Transformation to Cyber Security.

The first training program aimed at young female students already took place online last March involving about 150 girls, including high school graduates and university first-year students, in eight training sessions that had the main objective of providing them with an initial knowledge of digital culture. At the end of the training, SDA Bocconi School of Management issued a certificate of participation to 82 of the girls who had attended at least 65% of the sessions.

On June 23 and 24 the second training initiative will take place — this time in presence — aimed at professionals of all ages currently employed in an Italian SME, with particular attention to the main sectors of Made in Italy such as manufacturing, tourism and agribusiness. The sessions will aim at addressing together with the participants the issue of Digital Transformation, outlining challenges and opportunities that a SME is confronted with during this process and providing the necessary tools to be able to give their individual contribution to the processes, each within their role. Also in this case, at the end of the training, those who will have attended both days of sessions will receive a certificate of participation from SDA Bocconi School of Management.

"The SMEs digital transformation can positively affect both their productivity and their growth in size, thus also contributing to the prosperity of the national economy, since they represent over 40% of national turnover," Greta Nasi, Director of the initiative, stated. "In Italy there is an increasing number of women in the world of entrepreneurship and start-ups and I believe that a female leadership in these processes of development and transformation of our SMEs can create a multiplier effect by involving in the future more and more women promoting digital innovation and the use of technology at the benefit of Made in Italy".

"SMEs are the backbone of the Italian economy and therefore they are at the center of the country's industrial strategy," Wilson Wang, CEO of Huawei Italia, stated. "Unfortunately, however, there is still a big gap between these companies and large ones in terms of digital maturity, skills and technologies. With this initiative, together with SDA Bocconi, we intend to provide women working in SMEs with the tools to become protagonists of the Digital Transformation of their companies, with the dual objective of reducing the gender gap in technology on the one hand and increasing the competitiveness of Italian SMEs on the other".
