BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train left Ganzhou international land port in east China's Jiangxi Province for Budapest, Hungary on May 8, marking another achievement under the "dual-zone" cooperation agreement between China (Ganzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone and Hungary Central European Trade and Logistics Cooperation Zone, reported Chinanews.com.
Loaded with 50 40-foot containers, the train carries solar modules and mounting racks for the 80 MWp solar power plant project under construction by China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC) in Hungary's Buzsak.
Signed in January 2021, the "dual-zone" cooperation agreement was listed among the achievements of the Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries as a Belt and Road international cooperation project.
The Ganzhou-Hungary freight train service under the "dual-zone" model allows more foreign trade firms to share the benefit of China-Europe freight train services. With the goods transported directly to the overseas warehouses, the efficiency can double from when exporting goods are transported by sea.
By May 7, the Ganzhou international land port has operated a total of 85 China-Europe freight train trips this year, with 600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) handled each day, connecting more than 100 cities in 22 countries. The port has emerged from a logistics channel for wood import and furniture export to a comprehensive open port with various functions including foreign trade, logistics, storage and finance.
In the future, the Ganzhou international land port will continue to build upon the "dual-zone" cooperation, attracting more sources of goods through cross-border e-commerce and promoting sustainable development of its China-Europe freight train service.
