BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- China has newly built 134,000 5G base stations in the first quarter of this year, with a total of 1,559,000 5G base stations being put into operation, reported Economic Information Daily on Thursday.
It is learned that China's 5G network covers all prefecture-level cities and counties nationwide.
Zhao Zhiguo, a senior official with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said that the Industrial Internet has been available in 45 major categories of the national economy, with 2,400 5G + Industrial Internet projects under construction.
MIIT will continue to roll out construction of 5G base stations and gigabit optical network, Zhao added.
