BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The greenway around Ruyi Bridge in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is already under construction in recent days, which is expected to become an important part of the city's greenway system, helping to accelerate the eco-environmental protection and construction in Hohhot.
Since 2020, Hohhot has been planning the construction of the ecological greenways. Through cooperation with well-known professional teams at home and abroad, the city has completed the urban greenway system plan which intends to build 850 kilometers of Qingcheng Greenway within 5 years to provide citizens with green, open and comfortable space for leisure activities.
In 2022, the city will integrate the existing ecological landscape resources to create a demonstration section of the Qingcheng Greenway, enhancing Hohhot's living environment, said Huo Peizhong, an official from the city's garden construction service center.
Using permeable pavement which prevents river flooding and water pollution when it rains and maintains the city's water balance, the demonstration section of the Qingcheng Greenway with the investment of about 5 million yuan is expected to be fully completed by the end of June, Huo added.
