IfoQuest (April 22, 2022) – Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, spokesperson of the Thai government announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prayut Chan-o-cha met with Ambassador of Republic of Korea (ROK) to Thailand Moon Seoung-hyun when the latter took his office.
Thai Prime Minister welcomed the official inauguration of Ambassador Moon Seoung-hyun and appreciated the close and vibrant relationship between the two countries. Since the onset of COVID-19, the two countries have helped each other in the fight against the pandemic.
Thai Prime Minister believed that under the active promotion of Ambassador Moon Seoung-hyun, the strategic partnership between Thailand and ROK, which has been established for more than 10 years, will make substantial progress. The Thai government is willing to carry out comprehensive cooperation with the ROK Ambassador to Thailand.
ROK Ambassador appreciated the close ties between the two countries and said that the two peoples enjoy close relations and a long history of friendship. Thailand is one of the top tourist destinations for the ROK people.

In the fields of politics and security, the two sides are pleased to see close military cooperation, which has laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation in other fields.
In the fields of economy, trade and investment, despite COVID-19, bilateral trade and investment still see growth. Thai Prime Minister believed that the two countries boast great growth potential in economic cooperation, especially in future industry and green economy. ROK investors are welcome to increase investment in Thailand while Thailand will facilitate their investment.
In the fields of society and culture, Thai Prime Minister appreciated the ROK's success in the development of soft strength and said the two countries should make closer cooperation in culture and sports and promote cultural exchanges.
As for the cooperation within sub-regional and regional frameworks, Thai Prime Minister commended the ROK for its constructive role within the framework of the Mekong-ROK Cooperation, ACMECS and ASEAN-ROK Cooperation. Thailand is ready to provide support in human resources development and green economic development.
