NANJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province saw foreign trade grow by 14 percent year on year in the first quarter of this year, local customs said on Monday.
The province's import and export value hit 1.29 trillion yuan (about 202.3 billion U.S. dollars) from January to March, accounting for 13.7 percent of the total in the country, according to Nanjing Customs in the provincial capital.
Of the total, exports rose 15 percent year on year to 802.8 billion yuan, while imports gained 12.3 percent to 485.6 billion yuan.
During the period, the three major trading partners of Jiangsu were the European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the United States. The import and export value reached 197 billion yuan, 182.5 billion yuan and 168.6 billion yuan respectively in Q1.
Imports and exports between the province and the Belt and Road countries in Q1 reached 335.6 billion yuan, up 17.5 percent compared with the same period in 2021.
