InfoQuest (April 13, 2022) - Mr. Phusit Rattanakul Sereeruengsit, Director-General of Thailand's Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, announced that DITP constantly explores ways to Thailand's exports to various countries. A report on the expansion of Thailand's rice export market indicates that Thailand's rice exports to Austria are expanding and more rice exports are expected, especially Geographical indication (GI) products such as Thung Kula Ronghai jasmine rice.

Given the popularity of Thai food in Austria, Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has actively promoted Thai jasmine rice to Austrian buyers, importers, and retailers, in which smooth progress is made. The Austrian importers have visited Thailand and decided to import the Department of Foreign Trade-certified jasmine rice.

In addition, Thung Kula Rong-hai jasmine rice has been granted protection for a geographical indication by the EU and has been recognized by the Austrian senior super premium food import companies. Currently, the two sides are negotiating price and product details.
