BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) – The Xi'an area of the Shaanxi Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in northwest China has attracted more than 100,000 market entities to settle in since its inauguration in 2017 to the end of February this year, reported Shaanxi Daily Monday.
During the period, the Xi'an area witnessed the entry of 953 enterprises with registered capital exceeding 100 million yuan and 745 foreign-invested enterprises, which further stimulated the area's role in promoting Shaanxi's economic development.
Specifically, thanks to the area's efforts in gathering advantageous industries, electronics industry giants including Samsung Electronics and Xiaomi have settled in the Xi'an area, further promoting the empowerment of advantageous industries to the regional economy.
Five years on, the Xi'an area has achieved a total of 520 innovative best practices that can be promoted and replicated, of which 26 cases have been recognized by the Chinese central government, and 66 innovation cases have been promoted within Shaanxi Province.
The Xi'an area has been committed to strengthening cross-border trade. For example, local authorities of the Xi'an area have simplified the customs clearance procedures for import and export enterprises. The data shows that the customs clearance time of import and export goods in Xi'an in December 2021 has been reduced by 63.1 percent and 82.3 percent respectively compared with the same period in 2017.
At the same time, priority has been given to the optimization of financial services by the Xi'an area. The Shaanxi cross-border e-commerce RMB settlement platform in the area has attracted more than 200 foreign trade enterprises to settle in.
The Xi'an area has also been actively promoting "going out" of Chinese traditional medicine service in the Belt and Road countries, for example, setting up Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment centers in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries.
In addition, in order to speed up the cooperation and development between the FTZ and overseas countries and regions, the Xi'an area has joined hands with a number of domestic pilot free trade zones and major ports to jointly explore the coordinated development of free trade.
