BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The splendid Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has propelled the rapid development of China's sports-related industries benefiting from the economic effects of the Games, the Economic Information Daily reported, citing official statistics.
Mounting demand for winter sports ignited by the brand effect of the Beijing Winter Olympics has boosted the sports industry to go flourishing further.
VAT invoice statistics from tax authorities show that in March, the sales revenue of sports industry in Chongli District of Zhangjiakou City in Hebei province and Yanqing District of Beijing surged by 65 percent and 62.6 percent year-on-year respectively, and the cumulative sales revenue in the first quarter of this year increased by 35.2 percent and 68.9 percent year-on-year respectively. Among them, the cumulative sales revenue of fitness and leisure sports in Chongli climbed by 51.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter.
The sports event organization service in Yanqing developed rapidly, and the accumulated sales revenue in the first quarter increased by 1.5 times compared with the same period last year.
The thriving ice-snow sports have also driven the accommodation and catering industry into the fast growth track. In the first quarter of this year, sales revenue of accommodation and catering industry in Chongli and Yanqing soared by 3.5 times and 55.9 percent year-on-year respectively.
Inspired by the Winter Olympics, people actively participate in ice-snow sports, which stimulate the demand for outdoor entertainment consumption.
In the first quarter of this year, the sales revenue of entertainment industry in Chongli and Yanqing soared by 15.4 times and 1.6 times year-on-year respectively, in which the sales revenue of amusement park service in Chongli and Yanqing increased by 32.3 times and 15.9 times year-on-year respectively, marking an important factor driving the growth of entertainment industry.
Meanwhile, ice-snow sports have brought opportunities for sportswear industry. In the first quarter, the sales revenue of sportswear and equipment in Chongli and Yanqing grew by 61.6 percent and 47.3 percent year-on-year respectively.
