BEIJING, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The first truck freight left the prefecture of Kashgar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for Europe on Wednesday, reported by Chinanews.com.
The truck freight carrying molecular sieve goods worth 2.8 million yuan will arrive in Munich, Germany after passing through Turkey.
As one of the latest emerging modes of transportation, the whole process of the truck freight from China to Europe will no longer include loading and unloading, with the advantages such as unlimited warehouse space, guaranteed time efficiency, and strong customs clearance capacity.
As a key node in the construction of Belt and Road Initiative, Kashgar launched the first truck freight which means the opening of a new economic channel to the west, playing an important role in the deep integration for Kashgar and Xinjiang into the Belt and Road construction and better serving the "dual circulation" development pattern, according to Lan Feng, an official with Kashgar Customs.
