MILAN, April 5 (Class Editori) — Fincantieri is going to consolidate its position in the fisheries sector thanks to a new contract. Fincantieri has signed, through its subsidiary Vard Group, a contract worth about 50 million euros for the development and construction of an innovative fishing unit for the German company Deutsche Fischfang-Union GmbH & Co. The ship will be 84 meters long and will be able to accommodate 34 people in single cabins.

The vessel will be built in Braila, Romania, and will be delivered in Brattvåg, Norway, in the first quarter of 2024. The design has been developed in accordance with the highest sustainability standards, with particular attention to the reduction of the environmental impact, to the safeguard of the quality of the fishing, to the safety of the crew and to the process efficiency.

The new unit will be equipped with innovative fish handling solutions, an aquarium for fish keeping and an advanced on-board processing facility. Not only that. It will have a loading capacity of 2,200 m3 divided on two decks and silage tanks for 540 m3, in order to ensure maximum use of the biomass produced.

With this order, Fincantieri Group consolidates its position at an international level in a sector in which it has entered only recently. However, on the stock exchange its share follows the market and fell back by 1.6% to 0.6155 euros.
