BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Lianyungang, a port city in east China's Jiangsu Province, has run a total of 203 China-Europe freight trains in the first three months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 25.7 percent, reported yidaiyilu.gov.cn Tuesday.
In March alone, Lianyungang operated a total of 87 China-Europe freight trains, with a year-on-year increase of 40 percent.
On April 1, a batch of fertilizer products from Uzbekistan arrived at the China-Kazakhstan Logistics Base of Lianyungang, and will be transferred to Ulan Bator, Mongolia, by the China-Europe freight train in a few days, further promoting the operation of Lianyungang's international railway intermodal freight train.
The China-Kazakhstan Logistics Base has been committed to operating freight trains connecting Lianyungang to Central Asia, West Asia, Eastern Europe and other countries and regions, strengthening the role of Lianyungang as a transportation hub for the international multimodal freight transport.
