BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Baotou, a heavy industry city in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has maintained a strong economic development momentum and yielded fruitful results in industrial transformation in the past two years.
Thanks to the region's achievements in attracting investment and major project construction, Baotou city signed 1,134 major projects with 5,918 enterprises in 2021, involving a total investment of 1,249.3 billion yuan.
Specifically, in the past two years, Baotou had been committed to efficiently attracting investment and promoting cooperation by holding heavy industry related conferences and forums. For example, the 13th Baotou China Rare Earth Industry Forum held on December 20, 2021 witnessed the signing of 54 major projects, involving a total investment of 20.74 billion yuan.
To better play the vital role of major project construction on Baotou's economic development, the city strived to promote the project construction efficiency and quality, and support services. For example, the city had further simplified the process of applying for construction permits for relevant enterprises.
In response to green and low-carbon development, Baotou proposed to build China's modern energy industry base in the city. At present, the city has formed full industry chains in photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy and signed 31 hydrogen energy projects.
In addition, in order to further promote the development of modern energy industry, Baotou is striving to promote the construction of two zero-carbon industrial parks and four low-carbon parks, and will introduce green and environmental-friendly manufacturing enterprises to settle in the local area.
