BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.63 percent, at 3,451.41 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.21 percent higher at 13,412.92 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices came in at 1.02 trillion yuan (161.02 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.36 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to medical equipment and electricity led the gains, while those related to coal and finance led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.58 percent to close at 2,855.8 points Friday.
