BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's nonferrous metal industry saw a stable performance last year, with fixed-asset investment, profits and international competitiveness growing in the sector, said the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
Last year, China produced over 64.54 million tonnes of 10 common types of nonferrous metals, up 5.4 percent from 2020, said the association.
The country's total imports and exports of nonferrous metals surged by 67.8 percent from 2020 to 261.62 billion U.S. dollars.
Imports jumped 71 percent from 2020 to 215.18 billion U.S. dollars, while exports surged by 54.6 percent to 46.45 billion U.S. dollars, the data showed.
The association forecasts that the nonferrous metal industry would face increasing downward pressure in the first quarter of this year but will stabilize in the latter half of the year. The country's production volume is expected to grow 3 percent year on year in 2022.
