BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's auto sales in China are expected to rise five percent to 27.5 million units this year, said Fu Bingfeng, executive vice-president and secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, reported Shanghai Securities News Thursday.
According to Fu, the output and sales of automobiles in China reached 26.08 million and 26.28 million units in 2021, up 3.4 percent and 3.8 percent respectively, ending the three-year drop.
New energy vehicles (NEVs) grabbed over 13.4 percent share of China's auto market in 2021, and its output and sales amounted to 3.55 million and 3.52 million units, both up 160 percent year on year.
China's NEV sector has entered a new stage of accelerated development. More supportive policies will be introduced to foster an enabling environment for the consumption of new energy vehicles, said an official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
China's auto exports doubled in 2021, reaching a record high of 2.02 million units. NEVs exports in 2021 reached 310,000 units, a year-on-year surge of more than three times.
Fu also estimated that China's auto exports will register a growth rate of around 20 percent in 2022.
