BEIJING, Dec.15 (Xinhua) -- Cenxi city in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is accelerating the green transformation of its stone material industry, aiming to build itself into a granite mining industrial zone, stone recycling ecological industrial base, as well as a national green mine demonstration area.
Cenxi, a county-level city of Guangxi's Wuzhou, announced its ambitions during the fifth China (Cenxi) Stone and Building Materials Expo held during Dec.8-12.

Themed on "build a stone capital with ecological thinking and vitality", the expo attracted some 289 enterprises and had 16 mining and stone material processing related projects sealed during opening ceremony.
Thanks to the stone expo, Cenxi has pocketed stone product purchase and sales contracts of more than 20 billion yuan and signed 78 investment projects in the past four years, according to Luo Weixiong, party secretary of the Cenxi municipal Party committee, noting that Cenxi stone expo has gradually developed into one of the most influential and well-known professional stone exhibitions in China.
As a main granite production base in China, Cenxi city had 114 stone industry enterprises above designated size as of October 2021 with an output value reaching 8.12 billion yuan, offering employment for 12,000 people.
The city initiated stone industry consolidation, upgrading and transformation in 2012, restructuring previous 308 scattering enterprising into 59. The city has been pushing forward technological upgrades and has built 10 green granite mines so far. Also, it pioneered new processing techniques that double the yield of raw materials while bringing in solid waste comprehensive utilization enterprises to realize the efficient utilization of resources.
A stone recycling ecological industrial park project with a total investment of 30 billion yuan that Cenxi city had brought in 2020 is now under construction, planned with whole industrial chain of granite stone mining, design, processing, trading and logistics.
The expo and the stone industry is a shining "business card" for Cenxi, which roots in Guangxi while holds bigger vision for the ASEAN market and the world, Luo noted. (Edited by Niu Huizhe with Xinhua Silk Road, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
