Thai PM grants 2021/22 rice income guarantee

InfoQuest (December 10, 2021) - Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand attended and presided over the Money-Granting Ceremony of Rice Farmers Income Insurance and Parallel Measures 2021/22 at Suphan Agricultural Products Central Market.

The prime minister pointed out that the government's move aims to convey happiness to farmers. Agriculture is one of the driving forces for Thailand's economic development. Farmers are the backbone of the country, and the government cares about every farmer. He also expressed the government's desire to ensure the stable income of farmers and improve the quality of their life.

At present, the government has provided income insurance to five types of agricultural products with price fluctuation. Meanwhile, it will also improve the quality of Thai rice through various measures such as reducing production costs and developing new agriculture.

As of November 30, 2021, under the guidance of the Rice Farmers Income Insurance and Parallel Measures 2021/22, the Thai government has granted money to 631,963 farmers, with a total amount of 12.65 billion baht. From December 9 to 13 this year, the government plans to issue guarantees to another 3.58 million farmers, amounting to 64.82 billion baht.
