BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- China now has built 10 automated container terminals with another seven under construction, both ranking first in the world, reported Shanghai Securities News Monday quoting the Ministry of Transport.

Since March 2016 when the Xiamen Ocean Gate Automated Container Terminal were built, a number of new or renovated automated container terminals (including fully automated terminals and yard automated terminals) have been built and put into operation in China.

These terminals operate stably, with loading and unloading efficiency gradually improved, playing a good demonstration effect.

The Phase IV of Shanghai Yangshan Deep Water Port, which opened in December 2017, is the world's largest automated terminal. The container throughput of the terminal reached 2.01 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) in the first year of operation, 4.2 million TEU in 2020, and may exceed 5.7 million TEU in 2021.
