BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The third China-Russia Energy Business Forum kicks off on Monday, which is accessible to participants both online and offline with sub-venues setting up in Beijing and Moscow.

The trade volume of natural gas, coal and electricity between China and Russia has grown steadily, playing a positive role in ensuring China's energy supply, according to the National Energy Administration(NEA), China's top energy planner.

In the first three quarters of this year, China-Russia energy trade reached 34.9 billion dollars, accounting for 34.3 percent of the total bilateral trade. The trade volume of natural gas and coal between the two countries surged by more than 60 percent year on year while power trade rose by 1.4 percent year-on-year with a volume of 2.38 billion KWH, the data showed.

Power trade between China and Russia rose to 1.64 billion KWH in Q4 from 700 million KWH originally planned, and is expected to reach 4 billion KWH for the full year, up by nearly one third year on year.

The two nations have also boosted cooperation in energy projects such as Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and Xudabao Nuclear Power Plant under construction.

In addition, enterprises from both sides are actively engaged in industry cooperation such as oil and gas chemical industry, natural gas power generation, renewable energy and technological innovation.
