BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Xinhua·Luoyang Culture and Tourism Integrated Development Index has been released recently in Beijing, which is dedicated to promoting Luoyang and Chinese culture to go out, and helping Luoyang, used to be the ancient Chinese capital for many years and now a major city in central China's Henan province, to build into a cultural capital of East Asia.
The index evaluates the integration and development of Luoyang's culture and tourism from three aspects of original force, driving force, and productivity. It takes 2018 as the base period with a benchmark value of 100 points.
The results of the index show that Luoyang's integration of cultural and tourism development has strong resilience and maintained an overall growing trend. The comprehensive index value in 2020 stood at 129.80 points, an increase of 29.80 percent over the base period despite the impact of COVID-19 epidemic. Luoyang's cultural and tourism integrated development rose against the trend, and the cultural and tourism market showed strong momentum.
In recent years, Luoyang has created a number of cultural tourism projects with urban characteristics. The number of scenic spots above 4A level, national cultural relics protection units, and museums has continued to increase. The continuous advancement of the construction of urban parks and urban study rooms has not only created a good leisure environment in Luoyang, a good cultural atmosphere has gradually taken shape. The people's spiritual life reflects stronger cultural self-confidence.
Benefiting from growing investment in cultural and tourism integration, and online + offline promotion, the cultural and tourism integration driving force sub-index of Luoyang is 112.56 points.
Driven by new capital, new technologies, new industries, and new markets, Luoyang's cultural and tourism industry is accelerating towards a new stage that activates urban cultural and tourism resources and enhances the incremental transformation of experience economy. In the next step, Luoyang will enhance the reputation and attractiveness of the city, and forge Luoyang a real super cultural IP.
Luoyang's productivity sub-index stood at 117.39 points in 2020. Cultural and tourism festival events and research trips have become important boosters to promote the cultural and tourism integration in Luoyang.
Besides, the index report pointed out that young tourists with distinctive personalities and willing to experiment are the main group in tourism in Luoyang, among which tourists aged 18 to 30 account for 35.83 percent.
