The index comprehensively evaluates the integrated development of culture and tourism in Luoyang from three aspects of original force, driving force and productivity. It takes 2018 as the base period with a benchmark value of 100 points.
The results of the index showed that the cultural and tourism integration in Luoyang has maintained sustained development on the whole with strong resilience. Although affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the comprehensive index value in 2020 stood at 129.80 points, an increase of 29.80 percent over the base period.
The original force sub-index registered 161.29 points in 2020, up 61.29 percent from that in 2018, indicating that the quality of Luoyang's scenic spots has been continuously improved and the value of resources has been recognized.
According to the results of a questionnaire, the cultural confidence of Luoyang citizens reaches 88.96 percent. The long history and innovative expression of cultural connotations have created a sound social environment for the integrated development of local culture and tourism industries.
The productivity sub-index presented a relatively stable trend, recording 117.39 points in 2020, up 17.39 percent from the base period. Cultural and tourism festival events and research trips have become important boosters to promote the cultural and tourism integration in Luoyang.
The Xinhua·Luoyang Culture and Tourism Integrated Development Index has scientifically quantified the level of Luoyang's culture and tourism integration, serving as a wind vane, a barometer and a new calling card of the city's integrated cultural and tourism development, said Hu Dapeng, head of the Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.
The index provides an effective starting point for Luoyang to adapt to the law of communication in the digital era and form a culture and tourism brand matrix with core competitiveness, and also provides a decision-making basis for the integrated development of culture, tourism and creative industries in Luoyang, Hu added.
