BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- International mediation summit 2021 kicks off at Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province on Wednesday, with a total of 47 guests from 14 countries and regions delivering speeches. More than 400 legal professionals such as lawyers, mediators and arbitrators also attend the summit.
Themed "Accelerate the High-Quality Development of Diversified Dispute Resolution Mechanism", the summit aims to facilitate enterprises' resolution of economic and trade disputes as well as promote experience sharing on mediation systems and analysis on mediation practices.
This year's summit will focus on topics such as resolution on intellectual property rights disputes, precautions and settlement of disputes within RCEP member states as well as resolution of commercial disputes in Hainan Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
Mediation, as an important tool, plays an indispensable role in handling international commercial disputes, optimizing the international business environment as well as promoting legal construction, said Lu Pengqi, an official with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
More efforts will be made to resolve cross-border disputes through mediation in a bid to further optimize the business environment in Hainan Free Trade Zone (FTZ), according to the local authority.
The summit was co-hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Hainan provincial government, undertaken by Commercial Legal Services Center of CCPIT and CCPIT Hainan Sub-council.
