BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) – The Lingang new area of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) recently released an action plan to promote green buildings, aiming to boost the area's development of an intelligent ecological and livable urban new city, reported the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News Thursday.

According to the plan, the Lingang area is expected to achieve full coverage of green buildings in newly built urban buildings in 2022, and realize the active application of green building technology and building materials and the vigorously promoted use of green housing.

Based on the existing experience in constructing a green ecological city, the Lingang area will rationally arrange the locations of green buildings in the area to create clusters of green buildings. At the same time, new buildings should implement higher energy-saving standards in the design.

The construction of ultra-low energy consumption buildings and use of renewable energy should be further promoted in the Lingang area. For example, based on the regional climate conditions, wind, solar, and photovoltaic (PV)  will be fully utilized to construct green buildings in the area, said the plan.

The new residential buildings in the area will be implemented with complete decoration delivery standards. All sections in the area are encouraged to incorporate the green performance and complete decoration quality of residential buildings into the commercial housing transaction agreement.

The plan also proposes that the Lingang area actively pilot new technologies, including 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and construction robots in engineering construction to promote the integrated development of green construction new technologies.

In addition, intelligent construction technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) should be promoted and applied to green buildings in the Lingang area. At the same time, the recycling of green building materials and resources such as concrete made from construction waste will also be implemented.
