BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Themed on fashion, creativity, technology and originality, the Nanshan Fashion Cup China Formal Wear Design Competition was kicked off in Beijing, capital of China, on Thursday.
The competition aims to provide a stage for young Chinese fashion designers to show their dreams and go international, said Song Jianbo, chairman of Nanshan Group, adding that as one of the important main business segments of Nanshan Group, the successful listing of Nanshan Fashion provides a good development opportunity for the overall "scientific, standardized and modernized" operation and development of the textile and apparel sector.
As a traditional advantageous industry in China, the textile and garment industry is undergoing a process of transformation and upgrading from production to design.
"The value core of the fashion industry is design," said Sun Ruizhe, president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), pointing out that in the context of the knowledge economy, design integrates technological innovation and cultural creativity to promote industrial, consumption and value upgrading.
When talking about the challenges for the development of China's formal wear industry, Zhao Liang, chairman and general manager of Nanshan Fashion, believes that the homogeneity of formal wear has become a bottleneck that restrains industry development. With the rise of Z generation consumer groups, more high-quality, high-value Chinese original designs are increasingly favored by consumers.
Guided by CNTAC, co-organized by China Fashion Association and Nanshan Fashion, the competition is expected to be an exchange platform for exhibition, discussion and development, which can encourage and cultivate more design institutions and outstanding talents to devote themselves to the high-quality development of the apparel design industry.
