BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government on Wednesday signed a strategic agreement to press ahead cooperation in areas such as oil and gas field development, clean energy supply, and high-end equipment manufacturing.
Through the cooperation agreement, the two sides aim to diversify energy supply, build an international energy trading platform, propel Shanghai's high quality economic development and facilitate the realization of the city's goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2025 and achieving carbon neutrality.
CNOOC will avail of this cooperation to increase investment in Shanghai, ensure the city's energy supply and energy mix adjustment, and participate in the construction of the metropolis as an international financial center and sci-tech innovation center, according to Wang Dongjin, chairman with the corporation.
Top officials with Shanghai, when meeting with Wang Dongjin, voiced the city government's full support on all-around cooperation with CNOOC.
