BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Gree Electric Appliances, Inc.of Zhuhai (000651.SZ), China's leading home appliances manufacturer, earned a net profit of about 9.46 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year surge of 48.64 percent, according to its interim report filed to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) on late Sunday.
During the period, the company achieved the operating income of about 92.01 billion yuan, an increase of 30.32 percent year on year.
The handsome performance of the leading air conditioner manufacturer reflects the considerable recovery in the industry.
It is noted that the household air conditioner market showed signs of recovery in the first half of the year, with total sales of about 86.37 million units, an increase of 13.56 percent year on year.
In breakdown, the air conditioner sales on the domestic market were about 44.62 million units, an increase of 11.98 percent year on year; while the exports were 41.76 million units, an increase of 15.3 percent year on year, according to data of the chinaiol.com, China's leading information service provider in the home appliance refrigeration industry.
As Gree Electric's core business, the air-conditioner business has seen an expansion in its share in the total business revenue, rising from 59.48 percent in the first half of 2020 to 73.79 percent in the same period of this year. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, Wang Siyi, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
