BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's machinery industry saw its added value increase by 22.3 percent year on year in the first half of this year, official data from China Machinery Industry Federation showed recently.
The growth of added value in machinery industry was 6.4 and 5.2 percentage points higher than that of national industrial sector and manufacturing industry. It is estimated that the annual growth rate of the added value, operating income and total profit of the machinery industry will reach about 6 percent.
Chen Bin, executive vice president of the China Machinery Industry Federation, said that from January to June, the machinery industry market demand gradually recovered, and the situation of foreign trade exports showed better performance than expected.
Besides, benefiting from effective epidemic prevention measures, statistics show that in the first half of the year, machinery industry achieved a total import and export volume of 491.72 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 36 percent. The total export value was 311.66 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 40.3 percent year on year, and the total import value was 180.06 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 29.2 percent year on year.
