BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou port in south China's Guangdong Province reported robust growth in cargo and container throughput in the first half of this year, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Thursday.
Statistics from the Guangzhou Port Group showed that cargo throughput at the port climbed 19.7 percent year on year during the period, while its container throughput increased 11.9 percent from the same period of last year.
It is reported that Guangzhou port ranked fourth among China's coastal ports both in terms of container and cargo throughput in the first half of this year.
According to the Guangzhou Port Group, it launched 14 new shipping routes for foreign trade in the first half of this year, bringing the total number of shipping routes to 134. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
