BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- China's energy storage industry is accelerating development with the improvement of business models and the maturity of the industrial chain, amid introduction of more support policies, the Economic Information Daily reported on Wednesday.
Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, and the National Energy Administration have jointly issued a circular to promote development of the new energy storage sector.
According to the circular, the country aims to realize transformation of new energy storage business from the initial stage of commercialization to large-scale development by 2025, and specifically, the installed capacity of the energy storage sector will be more than 30 million kilowatts.
By 2030, the country will achieve full market-oriented development of new energy storage business, said the circular.
In addition, the NDRC has recently announced to promote diversification of energy storage technologies, and make efforts to achieve a continuous decline in the cost of relatively mature new energy storage technologies such as lithium-ion batteries, and realize commercial applications of such technologies on a large scale.
Meanwhile, efforts will also be made to achieve commercial development of the long-term energy storage technologies such as compressed air and flow batteries at early stage, according to the NDRC.
Energy storage is an important segment of the new energy field, which is widely used in industrial, commercial and household fields. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, Wang Siyi with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
