BEIJING, July22 (Xinhua) -- China's software and information technology (IT) sector achieved a total revenue of 4,419.8 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 23.2 percent, with compound growth rate in recent two years standing at 14.7 percent, official data from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showed on Wednesday.
From January to June, the total profit of the sector rose 13.6 percent to 499.9 billion yuan, and the growth rate dropped 12.3 percentage points from its level in the first quarter.
During the same period, software exports climbed 12.2 percent year on year to 24 billion U.S. dollars. Among them, the export of outsourcing service was 6.86 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 19.8 percent, while the export of embedded system software was 9.38 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.8 percent.
Besides, the average number of employees in software industry in this period was 7.53 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent.
