BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- China has built a national-level innovation center for the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and four national-level IoV pilot areas, showing rapid development of the ICV industry, according to Fan Shujian, an official of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) at the recent 2021 China Internet Conference.
Fan said that more than 10 provinces and cities have made arrangements related to IoV, and expressways in more than 20 cities have been transformed and upgraded for IoV development.
IoV is a new type of industry that is deeply integrated with industries such as automotive electronics, information and communications, and road transportation. With the commercial use of 5G technology, the IoV industry has developed rapidly and become an important part of the development of the digital economy.
A lot of domestic Internet companies and automobile manufacturers have invested in the IoV industry. Under such circumstances, the supporting equipment and industrial chain are gradually improving. The development wave of China's IoV is coming, according to Huang Chengqing, vice president of the Internet Society of China.
Tencent, a tech giant in China, is also focusing on the intelligent network connection field. Zhong Xiangping, vice president of Tencent, said that Tencent is working with partners to promote the development of the intelligent network industry chain.
Industry insiders note that the rapid IoV development in China will surely generate more investment opportunities and significantly change people's lifestyle. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, Wang Siyi, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
