BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- China's paper-making industry reported growth in revenue and profits in the first five months of this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The industry's revenue totaled 586.62 billion yuan (about 90.66 billion U.S. dollars) in the January-May period, up 27.3 percent year on year, the ministry said.
During the period, the profits of the paper-making industry reached 41.44 billion yuan, an 84.2-percent surge from one year earlier.
The ministry's data also showed that the paper output increased 19 percent year on year to 55.57 million tonnes in the first five months.
In May alone, the paper output stood at 11.61 million tonnes, up 6.7 percent year on year. Enditem
