BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- China's machinery industry saw robust growth in revenue and profits in the first five months of the year, official data showed.
The combined operating revenue of companies in the sector came in at 10.08 trillion yuan (about 1.56 trillion U.S. dollars) from January to May, jumping 35.1 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
During the period, the companies' profits surged 56.8 percent from a year ago to 630 billion yuan, the ministry said.
In the first five months, the added value of China's machinery industry rose 26.7 percent year on year, 8.9 percentage points higher than the overall growth of China's industrial sector. Enditem
