BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Mobile phone shipments in Chinese market totaled 174 million units in the first half (H1) of the year, up 13.7 percent year on year, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) showed on Tuesday.
Among them, shipments of 5G phones in China spiked 100.9 percent year on year to 128 million units, accounting for 73.4 percent of the country's total mobile phone shipments during the period.
Domestic brands continued to dominate mobile phone shipments during the January-June period, hitting 155 million units and making up 89.2 percent of total shipments.
In June alone, the shipments of 5G mobile phones amounted to 19.79 million units, accounting for 77.1 percent of June's total shipments.
A total of 32 new phone models were released into the market last month, down 33.3 percent from the same period of last year.
