BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China Gezhouba Group Mechanical & Electrical Construction Co., Ltd announced Monday that the right bank No.15 power generation unit of Baihetan hydropower station was connected to grid on July 10 and was about to be put into service.
With installation work starting in December of 2019, the No.15 unit completed full assembly this March, and now became the first generating unit that is connected to grid after Baihetan hydropower station's first batch of million-kilowatt scale hydropower units started power generation earlier on June 28, the company said in a press release.
As a major construction under China's west-to-east power transmission project, the Baihetan hydropower station is located on the Jinsha River, the upper section of the Yangtze River, straddling the southwestern provinces of Yunnan and Sichuan. The power station is equipped with 16 hydro-generating units (8 units on each river bank), each with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, the largest single-unit capacity in the world.
China Gezhouba Group Mechanical & Electrical Construction Co., Ltd is a subsidiary of China Gezhouba Group under China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China Group) , and undertakes the installation and construction of the eight units of the Baihetan hydropower station on right bank.
