BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The trading of second-hand mobile phones in China boomed in the second quarter (Q2), increasing by 10.76 percent quarter on quarter in volume, with that of second-hand 5G mobile phones by 96.25 percent quarter on quarter and accounting for 18.38 percent of the total, reported China Securities Journal Monday quoting a report.

The report, focusing on China's mobile phone market in Q2 of 2021, was released by ZhuanZhuan Group, a Chinese online used goods trading platform.

According to the report, the deals of 4G and 5G second-hand mobile phones continued to heat up in Q2, and the shipments of 5G smartphones in China maintained a growth trend.

In terms of brands, iPhone still led China's second-hand mobile phone market, with the trading volume in Q2 accounting for 36.53 percent of the total second-hand mobile phone transactions. As for domestic brands, Xiaomi, vivo and Huawei were the top three, with the trading volume of second-hand mobile phones respectively accounting for 13.88 percent, 12.7 percent and 12.04 percent of the total.

Noticeably, HONOR had strong performance in both the new and the second-hand mobile phone markets in Q2. Its market share in the new mobile phone market bounced back from the lowest around 3 percent to 9.5 percent at the end of May, and its transaction volume in the second-hand market soared by 88.34 percent quarter on quarter.

During this period, the prices of iPhone in the second-hand market were stable with a drop. The trading volume of Huawei mobile phones in the second-hand market declined, but the prices of popular models went up rather than down.

According to analysts from ZhuanZhuan Group, due to the supply of chips, the shipment of Huawei mobile phones in the new mobile phone market has declined significantly , which has also affected the transaction volume and price trends in the second-hand market, and in the future, Huawei mobile phones, especially popular models will still experience price fluctuations due to supply changes.
