BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, has recently opened a new air cargo route linking the city with Frankfurt in Germany, reported Chinanews.com Thursday.
The route started operation on Thursday afternoon. Its first flight was carried out by an A340-600 plane and loaded with 71 tonnes of international e-commerce cargo, setting off from Changsha Huanghua International Airport to Frankfurt.
The route is expected to have three air cargo flights every week as the only direct international cargo flight to Germany from Changsha, aiming to expand the logistics corridor connecting Changsha and China's central region to Europe and to help build Changsha into an international logistics hub city in central China.
From January to May 2020, Changsha operated 8 regular international cargo routes and 2 unscheduled cargo routes to Chennai and Belgrade, making Changsha closer to the world.
In the future, Changsha will continue to open new international cargo routes to Africa and Amsterdam, and add 3 to 5 routes every year.
