KUNMING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A car fleet that set off from Mengzi city and headed for Honghe Hani Rice Terraces in southwest China's Yunnan Province unveiled their driving testing journey as part of the stage II of the 2021 China Car Performance Challenge (CCPC) on Saturday.

With drivers recruited online across China, the car fleet drove ahead on the winding roads along the racing routes, evaluating from all aspects that matter to car buyers the performances of participating vehicles.

The fleet drivers, including a couple of old drivers recruited from north China's Tianjin Municipality, were deeply amazed by the spectacular view of the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces, one of the world heritage sites located in Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan, of which Mengzi is its capital city.

When enjoying the fantastic views, drivers, also evaluators of the participating vehicles, drove across rather winding roads on their routes to Yuanyang Rice Terraces, core area of Hani Rice Terraces, which are the best racing roads to test the performance of car chassis and the stability of cars in sharp turn.

As they told, the racing routes at Yuanyang Rice Terraces cover roads with an altitude elevation of 1,700 meters, requiring high acceleration and durability performance of vehicles on uphill roads and braking performance on downhill roads.

Before they left for next vehicles to test, they would score the car, by scanning the QR codes on the vehicles, on their acceleration, power, and stability. Also included in their dynamic evaluation of vehicle performances are critical parameters such as operation and comfort of vehicles.

Apart from their dynamic evaluation, static evaluation of the participating sedans evaluating their outer appearance, interior decoration and space, and interaction settings attracted many interested consumers to take part in.

"As a consumer, it is a remarkable experience to test and drive so many models of cars and express our real opinions about the vehicles in the 2021 CCPC", said a consumer reviewer.

This year, the CCPC provides new appraisal methods which allow participation of consumers in evaluation, attention coefficients setting, and reviewers picking and result in increasing acknowledgement of consumers.

As the top event for China's car industry, each annual session of CCPC arouses broad attention from Chinese customers. (Edited by Duan Jing with Xinhua Silk Road, duanjing@xinhua.org)
