BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) announced on Monday that China has officially accepted the Kigali Amendement to the Montreal Proctocol, which will come into effect on September 15 for the country, making it the 122nd signing party of the Amendment.
Experts believe that China's carbon trading market will further develop as more trading oppotunities await on the acceptance of the Amendment.
Besides, environmental-friendly refrigerants will be more popular and likely to be exported despite international green trade barriers. More technological improvements will be made in the field of hydrofuorocarbon (HFC), powerful climate-heating gases that are still used in cooling systems, and thus more investments will be seen in the field.
The amendment, adopted in Kigali on Oct. 15, 2016 at the 28th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, included a commitment to reducing the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons by more than 80 percent over the next 30 years in order to reduce greenhouse gases.
