BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Constructed by China State Construction Engineer Corporation (CSCEC), New Alamein City Downtown Towers, a high-rise complex project, has started construction in Egypt recently, reported Beijing Daily on Monday.

The contract value of the project is approximately 1.92 billion U.S. dollars, covering a construction area of 1.09 million square meters, it is another major high-end housing construction project undertaken by CSCEC after the central business district (CBD) project in new administrative capital of Egypt. Besides, it is also the largest spot foreign exchange project signed by Chinese company in the Egyptian market.
New Alamein City is located at the Mediterranean coast in northern Egypt. It is one of the important strategic cities in the Egyptian government's 2030 plan and will be built into Egypt's summer capital in the future.
The project is positioned as a super high-rise ocean view mansion. It encompasses one 30-meter-tall high-rise apartment building and four 200-meter-high apartment buildings.
Assem Gazza, Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities said the project marks the entry of New Alamein City into a rapid construction stage.
