BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province witnessed the signing of overall 50 major projects on Saturday to further push forward the construction of its free trade port (FTP), the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported.
Those deals, signed in Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan, also showed the island province's increasingly strong attraction for both domestic and foreign investors.
The projects include 12 foreign-funded and 38 domestic ones, covering tourism, the modern service industry and high-tech industries, with a total investment of more than 15 billion yuan.
At the signing ceremony, the Hainan provincial government also inked strategic cooperation agreements with Southeast University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, State Development and Investment Co., Ltd., China Resources ((Holdings) Co., Ltd., etc.
The country released last June a master plan for constructing a free trade port on Hainan, a resort island with tourism as a mainstay industry, arousing interest both abroad and at home. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
